Becka and the big bubble launch

Becka and the big bubble is a children's series about a little girl who uses bubbles to float around major cities to see the people and landmarks. Becka has taken adventures to San Fransisco, Chicago, India and even the north pole. Today Gretchen Wendel and the illustrators were at the Encinitas Library to launch Becka and the big bubble goes to San Diego. There was plenty to do: Hullabaloo played two concerts, there was a bubble show, face painting, baby swag, and author and illustrators signing books. For people attending on an empty stomach (we sure were) there was also free food, apple juice, beer and wine. Photographer Kimberlee West was present taking beautiful pictures of the event. If you watch her slide show there is a picture of Jaqlyn right as the play line is above the E. I had never heard of the series until I found this event on hullabaloo's calendar. I did a search of the book and found it in video form and fell in love with the story:

We did have to leave early, Jaqlyn was really cranky, (I did not plan nap time well that day) but we all had a good time. My husband was a little nervous drinking the beer, he didn't want to be the first to take one, and he sure wasn't the only one drinking. Before you think it, I did not drink, I don't like alcohol at all. There are quite a few family/toddler events in San Diego that serve alcohol, *sigh*.
